🏆CC🧭🔵 | Self-Growth | Your Hands Are Already Full Teach Clear, 06/03/201911/06/2026 You are at the kitchen table. Your hands are in the thing. The writing, the building, the making — whatever it is that is alive in you right now. And the phone buzzes. Or the email arrives. Or someone says “can you just…” And you know what “can you just” means. It means an afternoon. It means a Saturday. It means the thing you are doing gets set aside, and maybe it comes back, and maybe it does not. And you say yes. Because you are kind. Because you do not want to be the person who says no. Because somewhere along the way, you learned that your time is a resource other people can tap. That your “maybe” is a “yes” with extra steps. That if you explain enough, they will understand, and you can say no later. But you do not say no later. You say yes now. And the hands leave the thing. And the thing cools. And the next time you sit down, it takes twenty minutes to get back to the temperature it was at. And the next time, thirty. And the thing you were making is still there, but the heat is gone. And you are tired in a way that sleep does not fix. You do not need a wall. You do not need to build a wall. You do not need to be unyielding. You do not need a firm, aggressive boundary that makes everyone uncomfortable. You need a sentence. One sentence. “I cannot. My hands are full.” That is the whole answer. You do not owe a reason. You do not owe a timeline. You do not owe “I will think about it,” because you both know “I will think about it” means yes. The people who respect you will hear “my hands are full” and they will say “of course.” And the people who do not respect you will push. And that is information. That is not a problem to solve. That is a door closing, quietly, on its own. You are not protecting a sacred space. You are not performing an act of willpower. You are just… at the table. With your hands in the thing. And the thing needs the next hour. And the next hour is yours. Not because you earned it. Not because you are special. Because it is the hour you have, and the thing is alive, and if you give the hour to the phone, the thing gets cold. And the cold thing is harder to warm than the one that never left the stove. The next time. So. The next time the phone buzzes. The next time the email lands. The next time someone says “can you just…” You do not have to answer right now. You do not have to answer at all. You can set the phone face-down. You can close the tab. You can keep your hands in the thing. And the world will not end. The sky will not fall. The person on the other end will find another way. They always do. And your hands stay warm. And the thing stays alive. And the hour is yours. 🎧 If you would rather listen to this one, the audio is here.
